Where there was once a parking lot, now stands a mixed-use development of housing and local retail that celebrates this vibrant artist community and honors the neighborhood’s architectural past of old agrarian mills, manufacturing, and railroad. Wildlands wraps around an existing building where beloved eateries draw locals into the heart of Bozeman’s Northeast neighborhood. Its facade is appropriate to the area’s history and uses sustainably harvested wood siding to create an unstuffy Nordic look with distinctive punch-out balconies. At three stories tall, the building tapers upwards to create a pedestrian-level experience that breathes. On the ground level, public walkways feature seating, drought-tolerant landscaping, lighting, and soffits, encouraging folks to gather and stay awhile. Murals decorate its walls. Inside the residential units, interiors offer clean lines and simple forms, artfully executed.
