45 Architecture & Interiors is honored to support the Montana Raptor Conservation Center (MRCC) in expanding their mission-driven campus in Bozeman. The new Education Center is designed to advance MRCC’s critical work in raptor rehabilitation, conservation, and public education while meeting rigorous USDA requirements for animal health and safety.
The single-story facility will house flexible classrooms for community programming, specialized mews for education birds, a USDA-compliant raptor food preparation space, and both private and open office areas. Every element of the design emphasizes function, durability, and the welfare of the birds, incorporating proper ventilation, double-door entries, cleanable non-toxic finishes, and thoughtfully designed perching areas that support natural behaviors.
The building’s exterior draws inspiration from Montana’s landscape, blending wood siding and corrugated metal to create a contemporary yet contextual identity. Operable windows at the mews, screened with metal rods, provide daylight and fresh air while maintaining safety. Inside, exposed structure, natural wood finishes, and acoustic treatments create welcoming spaces for both staff and visitors.
This project represents more than a building; it is an investment in the long-term impact of MRCC’s conservation mission, fostering stronger connections between raptors, researchers, and the Montana community.
