Belgrade Library + Community Center

Client:

City of Belgrade

Year:

2025

Size:

The fast-growing city of Belgrade, Montana needed help in conceptualizing and planning for a new library facility. This effort and 45 Architecture’s involvement included community engagement, surveys, and workshops, all of which ultimately helped the city understand and prioritize their specific needs and the cost of the project. The bond was put to a vote and passed in September 2021.

Currently under construction, the Belgrade Library and Community Center will be a single story community-focused building with an active lobby and gallery space, a central information and circulation desk, multiple meeting rooms, staff office and work space, an adult library including study spaces, reading spaces, and a technology lab. The youth library area carved out within the library will include story reading areas, play areas, computers and socializing space. In addition to the building, the project included design and development of off-street parking, street frontage improvements, a pedestrian plaza along Main Street, and an outdoor plaza with reading area and event area, offering the community a variety of new amenities adjacent to the popular Lewis and Clark Park, making the library and community center a central fixture of the town.
