Montana State University Northern approached our team to create a master plan and marketing materials for an indoor equine arena with a supporting equine training campus. The site is in Havre Montana, near the University campus, and the scope included a design for a boarding house and training facility, with multiple grazing pens, for use by MSU-N students, teachers, and the general public. Also on site is a 60,000 square foot riding arena, for 3,000 spectators, which can host various events including full scale rodeos. This equine center would be used by the University’s Equine program as well as enjoyed by the community of Havre and surrounding cities. The main arena building is nestled into the existing sloping grade to create a facility that is not excessively tall and integrates into the site and surrounding buildings. This also allows for a premier fan experience with on grade access to seating, great site lines to the rodeo floor, and convenient logistics for loading livestock.
